Hammond board rescinds demolition order, approves monitoring-well permit and enforces $210 late fee for contractor

The Hammond Board of Public Works and Safety on April 9 approved several administrative items: it rescinded a demolition order for 944 Murray Street after staff confirmed final inspections, approved a right-of-way permit for monitoring wells, and voted to enforce late business-license fees of $210 for Rich's Roofing.

On the rescission, the presenter said final inspections had been completed by Mr. Pollock and recommended releasing the demolition order for 944 Murray Street; the board approved the motion by voice vote.

Engineering staff presented a single right-of-way permit for monitoring wells at Wicker and 171st related to a BP Amoco line issue; the presenter said Mr. Novak was aware of the work and recommended approval, which the board granted.

A late business-license hearing was listed for Rich's Roofing; no company representative attended but Lisa Serrano contacted staff to say she could not be present. The board discussed waiving or enforcing late fees and voted to enforce late fees totaling $210 for 2025–2026.

The meeting then opened to the public (no speakers were recorded) and adjourned.
