At the May 12 meeting the Montoursville Area School Board approved several routine and specific spending actions, including transfers to cover middle-school competitions, additional technology support hours and funding for new timpani for the concert band.
Business manager Missus Reich presented budget transfers BT1 (middle-school trips and competitions), BT2 (Tyler technology support and commons-area AV work) and BT3 (concert band timpani and equipment). Trustees took each transfer separately at the request of the superintendent. BT1 and BT2 were approved after trustees discussed scope and budget offsets.
Regarding the concert band purchase, trustees noted most timpani in the district were replaced three decades ago. The board approved transferring unused budget dollars into equipment to buy new timpani after staff said Chris Morgan's fundraising had helped reduce the district's net cost.
The board also approved the payment of invoices for the general, capital project and cafeteria funds; that motion was passed by roll-call with affirmative responses from attending members. Trustees approved award of routine supply and athletic bids for 2026'27.
Chair closed routine business and the board moved on to committee reports and community updates.
Outcome: BT1, BT2 and BT3 were approved; the board authorized payment of invoices and approved bid awards for routine supplies and athletic equipment.
