The Manitowoc Public School District board approved several committee recommendations, including selection of a benefits broker, campus sublease and a technology purchase.
District staff said six broker proposals were evaluated and recommended R & R Insurance for benefits‑broker services; Michelle Fraley, introduced by staff as R & R’s account representative, described the firm’s school district experience and open‑enrollment support tools. The board approved R & R by voice vote.
The board approved a sublease agreement and a memorandum of understanding with the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay to house the district’s alternative programs on the UWGB Manitowoc campus; both motions were made from the facilities committee and passed.
On technology, the board approved buying portable interactive smart panels from CDW/G as part of a multiyear plan to replace aging classroom displays. Staff explained the panels are on carts so they can move between rooms and that library/media specialists will provide professional development for teachers. Board members said pilots of the technology have been positively received by staff.
All three items were approved by voice vote during the meeting.
