Staff updated the board on the landfill pump replacement project, reporting that all pumps and a new control panel were installed and had a startup with the pump manufacturer and contractor on 05/06. "All pumps have been installed and are operational as of 05/06," the staff member said.
Staff described several outstanding underground issues identified during startup: cell 2 level sensor wiring and flow meter wiring for cells 1–3 need replacement after tests found wiring defects, and a recent pressure test on a primary pipe in cell 1 failed, indicating a possible crack in a seam. "This will be necessary for the pump to operate in auto mode," staff said of the wiring repairs.
Because of these findings staff said they will issue a change order and request additional funding to complete the work. The staff member framed these items as expected for a project involving older buried infrastructure and emphasized the goal of returning the system to full compliance and automated operation.
The board did not take a formal vote on a funding request during the recorded segments; staff said they would pursue the most economical repair approaches and return with cost details as needed.
