The Schuylkill Valley School Board’s presentation segment emphasized student accomplishments and staff professional development.
Student council members reported that about 100 students had artwork in the Berks County BCIU exhibition; several students won awards and some pieces will be displayed on county banners. The middle- and high-school music and performing arts programs were recognized for successful festival performances. At track and field, eighth grader Lincoln Miller broke the county discus meet record and later threw 199 feet 2 inches in a subsequent practice; other students were noted for state- and regional-level honors in TSA and FFA competitions.
Superintendent and staff updates included a summary from Jenny Rexroad of lessons from the PDE Data Summit about PIMS reporting, PVAAS growth measures and literacy-assessment practices—materials the district will use to inform curriculum and principal guidance.
The board also recognized students who will be showcased in district and county events and noted upcoming local educational opportunities, grants and foundation support for classroom projects.
