Oklahoma Water Resources Board presents $4.26 million to Midwest City for emerging‑contaminant work

Tim Davis of the Oklahoma Water Resources Board presented a ceremonial check to the Midwest City Municipal Authority totaling $4,262,620 for a project addressing emerging contaminants.

"It is our honor and our privilege to present this ceremonial check in the amount of $4,262,620," said Tim Davis, a loan analyst with the Oklahoma Water Resources Board. He thanked state legislators who supported the funding and said the award will help the municipal authority address contamination concerns that staff have been working on.

Mayor Rick Rice and council members accepted the presentation at the council meeting; officials from the municipal authority and the water board posed for photographs and indicated the city will issue a press release. The presentation acknowledged support from Senator Brenda Stanley and Representative Robert Manger.

City staff said the award is grant-funded and will be used to advance technical work and infrastructure related to the detection and mitigation of emerging contaminants in local water systems. Officials did not provide a detailed project timeline or procurement steps during the presentation.

The council later heard related public-works items and will include any required municipal-authority actions in subsequent meetings.
