Board approves aerial truck down payment, access‑control panels and fireworks allocation

The board approved three routine finance committee items on May 5.

Public Works received authorization to secure a 2027 aerial truck at a quoted price of $355,458 by making a 25% down payment of $58,623.25 from the 2026 borrowing to hold a build slot and avoid anticipated emission‑standards cost increases in 2027. DPW staff said the truck will have a 60‑foot reach and will reduce the village’s need to rent trucks for higher work.

Trustees also approved a quote from Newport Network Solutions to add access‑control (FOB) readers to key exterior doors at the host tower and DPW buildings for $20,568.18. Staff clarified that keys will remain for some doors, the system will log entries and that the project replaces failing equipment and standardizes the village’s access systems.

Finally, trustees approved $21,150 for the July 4 fireworks display. Board members asked staff to explore additional options to expand the show for the village’s 250th anniversary and return cost options for possible enhancement, while securing the vendor now to lock the date.

All three items were approved by roll call vote as presented in the finance committee recommendations.
