Board approves personnel slate, retirements and consent items including sale of used MacBooks

At its regular meeting, the Southwest School Corporation board approved a broad consent agenda that included retirements, resignations, personnel recommendations for the 2026–27 school year, donations and extracurricular fundraiser requests.

The board accepted retirements (including a teacher at Carlile Elementary) and several resignations and approved personnel recommendations across elementary, middle and high schools. The consent agenda also recorded a $1,000 donation to the Carile School athletic department and authorized multiple student camps and overnight trips (including a national Junior Beta convention in Nashville and various team camps at Indiana and Purdue). The presenter said fundraiser proceeds will cover associated costs; individual trip payments and fundraising account coverage were cited for specific teams.

Trustees also approved a procedural item allowing staff the first opportunity to purchase used teacher MacBooks at $150 each; computers remaining after staff purchases will be offered to the public. The motion to approve the consent items passed unanimously by voice vote.

Separately, the board appointed Joey Davidson as Sullivan High School head girls basketball coach; the recorded vote on that personnel appointment was 3–2 in favor. The board approved the payroll approval and documentation standards policy—recommended after a State Board of Accounts audit—by majority vote and waived a second reading so the policy takes effect immediately.

The consent‑agenda approvals and personnel actions will be reflected in personnel files and vendor/payment workflows; staff said they would provide required documentation for audit purposes.
