The Morris Township Committee opened its April 22 meeting with ceremonial proclamations marking Earth Day and Arbor Day and recognizing April 2026 as National Autism Acceptance Month.
Committeeman Janata read the Earth Day and Arbor Day proclamation, noting the township s environmental commission and encouraging residents to take part in tree planting and recycling programs.
Committeeman Jeff Grazel read a proclamation recognizing National Autism Acceptance Month and described local programs such as SNAP (Special Needs Athletic Program). Michael Alanus, who identified himself as a board member for Autism New Jersey and a representative of Your Choice Homecare, thanked the committee and described service gaps experienced by families as children with autism transition to adulthood.
Officials noted that the proclamations were meant to reaffirm ongoing support and to encourage community participation in related programs; a brief photo opportunity followed the presentation.
What's next: Proclaimed observances are honorary; community organizations were encouraged to continue outreach and to contact township staff about partnership opportunities.
