Troy City Council recognizes Athens High Student Council and approves multiple board nominations

Troy City Council presented a proclamation recognizing the Athens High School 2025–26 Student Council for charitable work during the school's charity week; Mayor Baker read the full proclamation and noted the student council includes 53 students and two advisors and raised $102,103.33 for the New Day Foundation for Families.

Following the proclamation, council approved a slate of mayoral and council nominations to boards and commissions. The mayor's nominations to the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority — Rosemary Korniaky, Carolina Nogues Ortiz, and Hemant Tata Polip — were approved for terms expiring April 30, 2029. John Steel was re-nominated to the Civil Service Commission for a term through April 30, 2032.

Mayor Pro Tem Chanda advanced council nominations to the Liquor Advisory Committee (Alicia Billington for a term expiring January 31, 2029, and Thomas Gault for a term expiring January 31, 2028) and nominated Teddy (transcript alternately shows "Terry") Kemp to the Personnel Board for a term expiring April 30, 2029; council approved those nominations unanimously.
