Manhasset Board approves $28.63 million Nassau BOCES administrative budget, elects three BOCES trustees

The Manhasset Union Free School District Board of Education on April 25 approved a personnel schedule, adopted the Nassau BOCES proposed administrative operations budget for the 2026–27 school year and cast votes to fill three Nassau BOCES seats.

The Chair read a resolution presenting the Nassau BOCES administrative budget for July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, and stated the total as $28,633,061. After members were asked to cast their votes, the Chair announced the budget passed with three affirmative votes. “Look at that, Gerard. That is a nice number,” the Chair said after reading the total.

The board also voted to fill three available Nassau BOCES trustee seats, each carrying a three-year term beginning July 1, 2026. The Chair read the candidates’ names — Deborah Coates, Lawrence Greenstein, Douglas Pascarella and Genie Desposito — and asked trustees to cast votes. The announced results were: Deborah Coates, three votes; Lawrence Greenstein, three votes; Douglas Pascarella, zero votes; and Genie Desposito, three votes. Per the procedure the three candidates with the highest vote totals will be appointed to the three-year seats.

Earlier in the short session the board moved and approved the personnel schedule; the Chair called for approval, a second was taken and the Chair announced the personnel agenda was approved. The meeting concluded with a motion and second to adjourn.

The board did not provide additional detail in the session about staffing changes listed on the personnel schedule, and no individual trustees were recorded by name in the public transcript of the meeting.

Next steps: the Nassau BOCES administrative budget covers the district’s share of BOCES administrative operations for 2026–27, and the appointed trustees’ terms begin July 1, 2026, consistent with the Chair’s announcement at the meeting.
