South View Marching Band, students honored at Sylvania Schools board meeting

The Sylvania Schools Board of Education formally commended students from South View High School and the South View Marching Band at its April 27 meeting after administrators reported the band earned a superior rating at the state marching band competition.

A district presenter read the names of students who scored 26 or above on the ACT or 600 and above on the SAT and described the band’s achievement. "We are proudly going to commend the South View Marching Band," the presenter said as individual students and band directors were invited to the stage to receive certificates. The district said individual and group photos would be taken after the meeting and posted on social media the following day.

The board approved the recognition (Item 2.1) by unanimous roll call. The administration noted a team certificate for the band directors and thanked staff and families for their support.
