Marion council adopts FY2027 budget, approves routine FY2026 amendment and salary increases

The Marion City Council on reconvening approved the city's FY2027 budget and a set of routine technical adjustments to the FY2026 budget, and authorized salary adjustments for non‑bargaining employees as presented in the FY2027 plan.

Treasury staff member Doug, speaking for the treasurer's office, told the council the FY2026 revision (Resolution 2026‑14) is a yearly amendment that reconciles adopted spending templates with actual receipts and expenses. "We do this each year," he said, "we set that as our template of spending and then once the actual amounts come in ... we have to modify or amend the budget." The council approved the resolution by roll call.

The council then considered Ordinance 4107, the FY2027 budget ordinance, and approved it by roll call with four votes in favor and one member absent. The package included the recommended salary adjustments for non‑bargaining employees; Doug moved approval and the council adopted the changes.
