Board awards phase-one high-school construction contracts and approves CIT expansion

The board approved awards for general-construction and electrical-construction contracts for phase one of the Easton Area High School infrastructure improvements and relocations, subject to solicitor review. The motion carried after limited discussion; one board member cautioned that delaying the field house until phase two could leave the district with an incomplete facility plan.

Earlier in the meeting the board also voted to approve the Career Institute of Technology (CIT) expansion project, a measure the superintendent said will require votes by five participating districts and represents a step forward for career/technical programming in the region.

Administrators said the high-school project is already in motion with several payments and design/consultant contracts executed; the district reported roughly $10 million already committed among early professional fees and initial contractor draws. Board members emphasized the projects’ long-term benefits for students but asked administration to continue close oversight of costs and contract scopes.

Next steps: contracts will be finalized pending solicitor review and standard pre-construction clearances; administration will continue to report on contractor selections and schedule milestones.
