Board approves SkillsUSA national trip for broadcasting team; district shares staff bonuses and event calendar

The board unanimously approved district staff requests to transport and chaperone four students to the SkillsUSA national leadership and skills conference in Atlanta, June 1–5, after the team earned first place at the state competition.

Mrs. Wyman presented the field-trip request as time-sensitive "hot off the press" news and said administrators are arranging transportation, hotel blocks and chaperones; the board approved the request and directed staff to return with finalized logistics. The district plans to use its own transportation for the small team and to ensure appropriate chaperone staffing.

Administrators also highlighted district achievements and upcoming events: the SkillsUSA team’s win (and a bronze medal in photography), several athletic all-state honors, a district surprise $500 check for staff as an appreciation bonus, and a schedule of spring events including the art showcase, band concert, a testing parade on April 24 and the region track meet on April 30. Staff asked trustees to help promote community participation at events and noted tickets and logistical details will be available through school offices.

The board took the field-trip vote by voice/hand and approved it unanimously. Staff said they will return with an updated packet detailing costs, hotel arrangements and transportation plans.
