Board appoints facilities director to city stewardship committee and approves 2027–29 school calendars

Mrs. Wheeler introduced the board recommendation to appoint Mr. Toby Steele, Carmel Clay Schools director of facilities, to the City of Carmel Environmental Stewardship Committee, explaining Steele's facilities expertise would help the city‑school partnership on sustainability and operations. Dr. Orike described Mr. Steele as the district's facilities director with "incredible knowledge of the inner workings" of Carmel Clay Schools.

The board moved, seconded and approved the appointment by voice vote, recorded by the clerk as 4–0 in favor. There was no public comment on the appointment.

Later in the meeting Dr. Herrera presented tentative school calendars for the 2027–28 and 2028–29 school years, developed with CTA collaboration and survey feedback. The board moved, seconded and approved both calendars by a 4–0 vote.

Both votes were unanimous and no amendments or conditions were attached. The board also approved the consent agenda earlier in the meeting (personnel report, claims and payroll) by a 4–0 vote.
