The Department of Public Health board convened a short meeting, confirmed a quorum of three members and approved the prior meeting minutes before introducing new staff and adjourning.
Board members Joe Treadwell, Matt DeAngelo and Jeff Martone introduced themselves and voted to approve the minutes after a motion and second; the motion passed with all members present voting in favor.
The board then introduced attorney Liz Bannon as the department's newly appointed deputy legal director. "I am Liz Bannon. I am the newly minted deputy legal director here at DPH," Bannon said, adding that she had been at the attorney general's office for about 13 years. She told the board she spent roughly eight of those years representing the Department of Children and Families and more than five years in the health and education section, where much of her work involved administrative procedure and boards including the medical and nursing boards. Bannon invited members to contact her with questions.
Board staff also introduced Maria Mayer as the board liaison and hearing specialist. A presenter described Mayer as the staff person responsible for scheduling, gathering evidence and information for hearings, and managing agenda items for the board.
No substantive policy decisions or votes on regulations were taken during the meeting. After the introductions, a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and approved by the members present; the meeting ended shortly thereafter.
