School Committee amends FY27 request to fund out-of-district coordinator, approves budget presentation for town meeting

On April 30 the Holliston School Committee voted to amend its FY27 budget request to $45,874,162 and to approve a budget presentation for posting to the town website and distribution ahead of town meeting.

Committee members said the House budget produced only a small net change in state aid for the district, and the Finance Committee recommended setting aside $60,000 to fund a 0.5 full-time-equivalent out-of-district coordinator. The superintendent and staff described the districtocus in the Student Opportunity Act work (MTSS, inclusive curriculum) and shared supporting slides that will be available online for residents who want more detail.

Committee members discussed presentation length and content for May 11 town meeting, agreeing to present a concise version for the public while keeping a fuller packet available. The committee also authorized two staff members to finalize a brief, no-more-than-three-page budget message to accompany the presentation.

The motion to amend the budget request and to approve the presentation passed by roll call vote; members noted that final net MSBA reimbursement (for any capital project) would be determined later and is separate from this operating-budget action.
