Associations press district for PCB lab results and formal testing protocol

Association and GI negotiators delivered a joint proposal outlining PCB testing, verification and response protocols.

The joint proposal requests verification that PCB‑containing lighting ballasts identified in earlier surveys were removed and asks for the lab reports from prior dust and air sampling so third‑party scientists can review them. Association counsel said the association had issued a records request months earlier and had not received the documentation required under the timeline the association cited.

The draft proposal sets different action levels for dust and for air based on age cohorts (Pre‑K/K, grades 1–6, 7–12/adult), and requests district adherence to EPA and state guidance for removal and storage of PCB‑containing material. The association highlighted the need to preserve removed materials as evidence and to follow accredited laboratory reporting standards.

District staff said they will review the written proposal and schedule further bargaining; they also noted that the district had indicated intent to apply for state funds for further testing. No testing or remediation work was authorized during this meeting.

Next steps: the proposal was handed to district negotiators; both parties said lawyers may confer and that a follow‑up meeting is expected.
