Board approves Datronics scoreboard purchase financed by 0% Lake Ridge Bank loan

The Verona Area School District board voted to approve the purchase of a Datronics video scoreboard and accept a zero-percent loan from Lake Ridge Bank to finance the project. The purchase and loan were presented in a consent memo and discussed during public board actions.

District leaders described educational and revenue opportunities tied to the scoreboard, including student participation in in-game production and digital-marketing curriculum. Pete and Dr. Clarity said the scoreboard is expected to generate sponsorship revenue that will help offset costs, and Lake Ridge Bank’s offered financing reduces the district’s borrowing costs substantially.

The motion to approve the scoreboard purchase and the zero-percent loan passed by voice vote. Staff will finalize contractor agreements and sponsorship commitments and return final contract language for administrative completion.

The board emphasized that the scoreboard purchase was brought forward with a detailed memo and that district staff had negotiated installation and site-work savings; trustees thanked the in-house staff who coordinated the project.
