Beaufort County council seeks fast action from state as property-assessment changes threaten revenue forecasts

During the workshop discussion several council members urged a 'full-court press' on state reps; the chair instructed staff to prepare a letter or resolution 'by Monday' and said council would use its contacts to press for action. Administration staff offered to draft a letter and indicated it could be signed by the council chair for quicker delivery.

Council did not adopt formal legislation at the workshop; instead members agreed to coordinate outreach and requested staff and the chair to expedite a communication to state officials outlining county concerns and asking for rapid attention before session end.
