A Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) representative briefed the Mountain View–Los Altos board on May 4 about a new community grants program that SVCE said offers roughly $3.2 million in capital funding for community‑serving entities in its service territory, with about $2.2 million set aside exclusively for school‑led projects.
Alison Moss, SVCE’s community grants fellow, described eligible projects including removal of gas appliances and installation of electric heat‑pump water heaters and HVAC systems, solar‑plus‑battery installations, and electric vehicle purchases and charging infrastructure. SVCE said the program includes technical assistance to help awardees plan and implement projects and that no local match is required to apply.
Moss provided the solicitation web page for details and said applications are due July 22, 2026. She encouraged district staff and schools to forward the information to site leaders and thanked the board for its partnership. Trustees acknowledged the program and said they would share the opportunity with site administrators.
What happens next: interested schools and sites may contact SVCE using the solicitation contact provided and consider project proposals for electric equipment upgrades; district staff may follow up with site leaders about potential applications.
