Broadview trustees approve $691,558.69 in bills, OK $17,732 fire-station camera system

The Village of Broadview Board of Trustees voted Tuesday to pay vendor invoices totaling $691,558.69 and approved a $17,732 purchase order for exterior surveillance cameras at the village fire station.

Trustee Abraham presented the bills and the clerk read vendor amounts that included Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois ($179,352.87), Broadview-West Chester Joint Water Agency ($256,861.66) and numerous smaller vendors. The report noted a manual payment — check number 89790 to the Law Office of Jordan Marsh for $18,250 — and a fund-by-fund allocation that showed the general fund bearing $360,982.92 of the total. "Our total expenditures is $691,558.69," the report said. The board voted 4–0 to pay the bills; Trustees Wimberly and Miller were recorded absent.

The board then considered a purchase order for CDS Office Technologies, moved by Trustee Shelby and seconded by Trustee Senior, to install an exterior camera system at the fire station. Fire Chief Martin described the system as roughly 18 dome cameras "to provide us with 360° of monitored camera surveillance at all times," citing the station as a public-safety asset the village wants to protect. Trustees asked no substantive questions and the motion passed 4–0.

Both votes were taken during routine agenda business. The clerk recorded the roll calls and the meeting proceeded to committee reports and public comment.
