Steering committee forwards highway private act ratification to full commission

Nick explained that a private act affecting the county’s highway commission has completed the state-level steps — approval by the General Assembly and the governor’s signature — and now requires ratification by the full Rutherford County Commission.

He reminded the committee that the matter previously passed the steering committee and other county committees during the private-act process and said county ratification requires a two-thirds vote at the county-commission level. A commissioner moved to forward the ratification request to the full county commission; the steering committee approved the motion by voice vote.

The committee characterized the request as largely housekeeping. The steering committee’s vote forwards the item for the full commission’s two-thirds ratification vote as the final local step in the private-act process.
