Library board president resigns; commission to advertise vacancy and consult county counselor

Will Blindberg, the library director, told the commission that Echo Snider, president of the Christian County Library Board of Trustees, resigned effective at the end of April because she is moving to Nixa. Blindberg said the director notified the commission of the vacancy and recommended starting the process to find a replacement for the south‑location seat.

Commissioners discussed whether the county must follow the library board bylaws’ geographic representation when making appointments and agreed to consult the county counselor, Austin, for a legal determination. They said they intend to advertise the vacancy and aim to identify candidates before the next board meeting; interviews would follow as part of the selection process.

No appointment was made at the meeting and commissioners said they would proceed with public notice and a review of the bylaws and statute before selecting a candidate.
