Votes at a glance: Clay County approves consent agenda, prosecutor invoices; establishes Justice Center planning committee

The Clay County Commission on May 1 approved routine business items and a planning resolution.

The commission approved the consent agenda, which included 357 invoices totaling $720,016.51, awards for an agricultural lease and equipment purchases, and a 2027 tourism marketing matching grant application (match not to exceed $90,000). Commissioner Johnson moved approval; the roll call recorded a 6-0 vote in favor.

The commission approved item 2026-119, six invoices for the Clay County Prosecutors Office totaling $4,648.93. Commissioner Thompson recused himself from that vote; the motion passed with five votes in favor and one recusal.

The commission unanimously adopted resolution 2026-125 to establish a Clay County Justice Center Planning Committee. Commissioner Withington moved the motion; commissioners agreed the resolution would be amended to include the names of the commissioners involved. The motion passed 6-0.

Commissioners concluded the regular agenda and moved to a discussion item (the auditors report on the TCA 11 senior tax credit implementation) before adjourning. The commission noted upcoming meetings: Constitution Review Committee (May 7 at 4 p.m.) and the next commission meeting (May 7 at 6 p.m.).
