Jackson Township High School girls wrestling team honored as Group 4 state champions; Coach named Coach of the Year

The Board of Education recognized Jackson Township High School's girls wrestling team for winning the New Jersey Group 4 state team championship, an achievement highlighted as historic because this is the first year the state has officially recognized a girls wrestling team state championship. Board members and the superintendent praised the athletes' undefeated season and the program's coaching and family support.

Mrs. Gardella called the student athletes forward in alphabetical order to receive certificates and for a group photograph. The board also acknowledged assistant coaches and singled out Coach Joseph Lemke as New Jersey Girls Wrestling Coach of the Year.

The recognition was part of a broader set of student and staff acknowledgements at the meeting, which also included reports from high school student representatives on athletics, arts and academic honors.
