Board approves consent agenda and adopts two policies on diploma pathway and immigration response

The board approved the consent agenda items A through T by roll call vote and adopted two board policies after second readings.

President Gil moved approval of Consent Sections A–T; the motion carried on roll call with all seated board members voting yes (Mr. Chang, Mr. Sun, Miss Lamb, Mrs. Ryan and Mrs. Gil). Later in the meeting Mrs. Penalora presented the second reading of board policy 6146.1 (certificate of proficiency/high school equivalency; "pathway to diploma"). Staff reported no changes since the first reading, described the pathway as permitting a diploma at 130 credits with 13 specified courses, and said the district expects graduates through the pathway; the board approved the second reading by roll call (unanimous among seated members).

Dr. Mona Richtor presented a second reading of board policy 5145.13 (response to immigration enforcement), noting it had been first read March 24 and that no changes had been requested; the board approved the policy by roll call vote.
