Student representatives report scholarships, voter registration and end‑of‑year events

Student representatives Grace and Catherine briefed the board on recent student activities and upcoming events.

Grace said she attended the Coca‑Cola Scholars program in Atlanta, met students from around the world and thanked the board for its support. She encouraged eligible seniors to register to vote on May 18 at Daniel Hand and noted May 1 is "Future Commitment Day" for students to indicate post‑secondary plans. Grace outlined senior events including a June 5 senior trip and reminded the board that AP testing begins next week.

She also described plans for a World Language Honor Society at Daniel Hand, explained proposed eligibility criteria (A or A+ across four semesters, with trimesters counted) and said the first induction is planned before graduation, with cords for inductees on May 29. Catherine and other student officers noted the college and career fair scheduled for the following evening and a May 9 "Hand on Wheels" fundraiser by the Class of 2026.

Board members thanked the students and asked clarifying questions about the World Language Honor Society criteria and timeline.
