Hood County Library adopts local‑author submission policy

The Hood County Library asked the Commissioners Court to add a section to county library policy to govern local‑author submissions. The assistant director described a submission form and selection criteria to help librarians review donated works in advance; local authors must be residents of Hood County to be eligible under the new policy.

The assistant director said staff prefer professionally published and edited works and noted format requirements for young‑reader materials (hardcover for picture and beginning‑reader books). The policy will allow staff to evaluate submissions on audience, timeliness, reputation and qualifications and will not guarantee purchase of additional copies.

Commissioner Samuelson made the motion to add the section; Commissioner Andrews seconded and the motion carried with no recorded opposition. The assistant director will manage review of submissions and notify authors of acceptance criteria.
