Shawnee council unanimously approves three public-works items

The Shawnee City Council voted unanimously Monday, April 27, to approve three public-works items, city communications director Dylan Blue said.

The actions approved were a final payment for the Johnson Drive streetscape; a construction contract for the Monticello and Johnson Drive stormwater project; and acceptance of funding from Johnson County to support the city’s 2027 stormwater pipe renewal projects. "All three votes passed 7-0," Dylan Blue said.

The meeting summary provided by Dylan Blue said the council took each item as a separate motion and approved them by voice/vote. The transcript does not record who moved or seconded each motion.

Council member Laurel Birchfield was absent; Dylan Blue said Council member Kurt Nappen filled in for Birchfield at the committee meeting. The council recorded seven members in attendance for the votes.
