Resident urges moratorium on large data centers; commissioners say they are monitoring developments

Bart Heath addressed the Warrick County Commissioners on April 27 to express concern about large data centers and a proposed development referred to as Project Greater, which he described as roughly a 600‑megawatt data center. Heath questioned past infrastructure decisions such as a 24‑inch gas pipeline under the Ohio River and said residents should have time to consider local effects.

Commissioners thanked Heath for raising the issue and asked him to specify the county in which the projects he referenced are located. Heath acknowledged that AB Brown power plant and parts of the pipeline are in Posey County and said he would provide more precise, provable facts in future comments. Commissioners said they are monitoring data‑center developments and invited Heath to share more specific information with staff.

No formal action or moratorium was proposed or adopted at the meeting. Commissioners said they cannot preemptively act but are listening and will consult as information becomes available.
