The Bloomington Board of Public Works on April 21 voted to amend a contract with Crossroads Engineers to provide preliminary engineering for the Hopewell South subdivision, including water-main work and storm-water detention measures that will be required regardless of the PUD decision before city council.
Kendall Noki, project engineer, told the board that the additional work was identified after further site evaluation and is not contingent on any particular PUD outcome. The board passed the motion unanimously.
The board then considered a contract with ENB Paving to resurface and restripe West Grimes Lane, Kirkwood Avenue, Patterson Drive and Rogers Street; the project includes replacement of a traffic signal at West Kirkwood and Rogers, reconstruction of pedestrian curb ramps and crosswalks, and traffic-maintenance plans that include a maximum 10-day full closure for West Kirkwood and lane closures elsewhere. The ENB paving contract passed with a 2–0 recorded vote.
Public Works Director Adam Wison introduced an adopt-a-roundabout policy to seek sponsorship funds for maintenance of four city roundabouts; the board unanimously approved the program.
The board scheduled its next meeting for May 4.
