Nandani Mangru, a senior at Schenectady High School, described her experience as a shadower in the CIP internship program at Ellis, saying she followed registered nurses and other staff during typical shifts and observed medication administration, IV pump use, patient transfers and routine vital checks. She said the internship gave her “a more wider experience” of the medical field and helped confirm her intent to pursue nursing.
Mangru thanked specific staff who supported her internship, naming nurse Sadi and tech Shivani for mentoring and helping her find job opportunities. She described daily tasks that included observing blood sugar, blood pressure and oxygen checks and said the hands-on exposure made her “grateful” for the experience. Mangru encouraged peers interested in nursing to pursue similar internships to gain direct clinical experience and mentorship.
