Iowa County supervisors reviewed a short-term roadside vegetation contract and ongoing infrastructure work, agreeing to place the contract-term question on the next agenda and to advance culvert and bridge design work.
Supervisor (S1) reported that the contractor who supplies sprayer tanks for roadside vegetation control will not have tanks for about a month and that crews will schedule work when tanks arrive. Supervisors debated whether an agreement was month-to-month or up to six months; unable to resolve the discrepancy from the documents at hand, they agreed to add the item to next week's agenda for a definitive decision. "We'll put that on there because we can't decide today," Supervisor (S2) said.
On capital projects, Supervisor (S1) said preliminary culvert designs are halfway complete and that two bridge projects are being prepared for next year; curvature adjustments on route F46 were approved by the Department of Transportation, reducing planned work. "I'm going to finish off the designs for culverts, get those ordered, and dive deep into our 2 bridge projects for next year," Supervisor (S1) said.
Separately, staff noted they will schedule school bus DOT inspections as soon as school is out and aim to minimize repair costs by routing inspections through nearby Jones County when possible. No formal motions or votes were recorded on the contract or project scheduling during the meeting; supervisors requested additional follow-up and documentation to confirm contract terms and project timelines.
