County accepts OHV recreation grant up to $99,029 to fund road grooming equipment with 32% match

County public lands staff told commissioners the Division of Outdoor Recreation funded an off‑highway vehicle (OHV) grant in full to help maintain heavily used county Class D roads to recreation sites such as Peekaboo and Cutler Cave. The grant award is for up to $99,029.44 and requires a minimum 32% match, which the county expects to meet with a mix of in‑kind labor and some cash or equipment allocation.

Staff said the equipment would be used seasonally to groom and blade roads, diversify operator groups and maximize equipment utility across county assets (including fairgrounds and arena maintenance). The county also plans to purchase equipment off the state contract where possible and to track in‑kind match through reimbursement forms provided by the state.

A motion to accept the grant passed unanimously. Staff will proceed with contract review and purchasing under state procurement rules and document match contributions for reimbursement.
