Moraga council approves 1.5% merit raise and increased deferred-comp contribution for town manager

The Moraga Town Council unanimously approved an amendment to Town Manager Scott Mitnik’s employment agreement on April 22 following an ad hoc subcommittee review.

The subcommittee cited Mitnik’s performance, experience and success building an executive team as the basis for recommended adjustments. The numbers read into the record were explicit: "Effective April 10, 2026, the town manager salary will be adjusted by 1.5% from $314,572 to $319,268," and the town will increase its deferred-compensation contribution so that it rises from 7% to 10% (a 3% adjustment), also effective April 10, 2026. The subcommittee noted a 3.5% cost-of-living adjustment applicable to department heads was already included in the budget and the town manager’s agreement.

Council members praised the manager’s performance and said retention and market alignment motivated the changes. The motion to approve the amendment was moved, seconded and carried unanimously.
