Board approves extended‑year special‑education services and therapy purchase agreements

The board approved extended‑year special education services (ESY) and corresponding purchase‑of‑services agreements for therapy providers.

Amber Licis, the district’s special education director, explained ESY will run Monday–Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., June 1–July 9, 2026, at Harrison Middle School. Licis said ESY continues students’ IEP goals, provides therapies and academic supports, includes transportation and meals, and historically served roughly 17 students last year (administration noted the exact number for this summer had not yet been finalized). Funding sources discussed included ESY funds and federal 6B funds, with the district submitting reimbursement requests as required.

Licis also presented the annual purchase‑services agreements for speech, occupational therapy and physical therapy for the 2025–26 school year. She said the district added a speech assistant and an occupational therapy assistant at lower hourly rates, and confirmed signed contracts are on file for providers covering ESY and the coming school year.
