Commissioners close hearing and approve vacation of unimproved right-of-way on Mound Drive

The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners closed the public hearing and approved the engineer's recommendation on April 23 to vacate an unimproved right-of-way on Mound Drive in Whitewater Township.

The Engineer's office presented the petition (filed by Thomas and Rita Scheme), the submitted survey plat and legal description, and recommended approval, saying the roadway is unimproved, consists of grass, and contains no utilities. The Engineer told the Board the vacation would split the parcel between the adjacent property owners.

There were no public speakers on the petition in chambers and no comments from Zoom participants. The Board moved to close the hearing and a vote was taken to proceed with the recommendation; a formal resolution to effect the vacation will be placed on the calendar as the next step.

Commissioners recorded support for the Engineer's recommendation and directed staff to prepare the requisite resolution and paperwork to consummate the vacation at a future meeting.
