CRC levies fines totaling $26,000 against three operators for regulatory violations

The New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission on April 23 voted to assess monetary penalties against three licensees for separate Notices of Violation.

Chief Counsel Touson briefed the commission on three enforcement matters. For INV092026 (Ashery), staff described six violations including use of an unapproved RV, visible paraphernalia and unsecured storage; commissioners noted this was Ashery’s third appearance before the board and moved to impose a $20,000 fine for repeated inventory and security deficiencies. The motion passed by roll-call vote with Commissioners Mapp, Nash, Vice Chair Ferraro and Chair Laufer voting yes.

The commission then considered INV1026 (Green Oasis Dispensary), described as failing to restrict dispensary access to authorized personnel and to maintain complete confidential sales records; the board assessed a $1,000 fine after discussion of security controls and OCI engagement.

Finally the commission reviewed INV1726 (Cream Retail Dispensary), where staff said a co-owner used an employee’s point-of-sale login to complete a sale in the name of another co-owner rather than selling directly to a consumer; the commission described the offense as severe and assessed a $5,000 monetary penalty. All three motions passed unanimously by recorded vote.

Commissioners emphasized that compliance officers and OCI site visits routinely precede NOVs and urged operators to heed compliance guidance to avoid repeat violations and wider consequences.
