The Finance, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee approved Ordinance 465‑2026 on May 11, revising storage charges at the city’s vehicle impound lot.
A city official presenting the ordinance said the proposal increases the "per day storage fee in our impound lot from $9 to $16 for the first 5 days" and from "$6 to $14 for each subsequent day or fraction thereof," and stressed there is an existing exemption "for vehicles held as property of a crime victim." The presenter said Cleveland’s current storage fees had not been updated in 25 years and compared the proposed rates to other Ohio cities and the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio cap.
The presenter noted the proposed rates would remain below the Ohio administrative code maximum of $22 per day and said the change brings Cleveland more in line with peers; the chair recorded that the ordinance stands approved. No roll‑call vote or individual votes were recorded in the transcript.
The ordinance will change the fee schedule for vehicle storage at the impound lot; staff said the exemption for crime victims remains unchanged. Committee members indicated prior consideration in the safety committee and reported unanimous passage there.
