Selectboard accepts public flag donation, clears decorative fans for townhouse display

Officer Vassic, identified as chairman of the Heritage Commission, asked the selectboard to accept a $51.80 donation to buy an outdoor New Hampshire state flag to replace a worn banner outside the townhouse. The board approved the donation after a motion and second.

Vassic also said he purchased 12 decorative window 'fans' at $7.99 apiece for the townhouse’s 12 windows and that the Heritage Commission had approved mounting them to mark the 250th anniversary celebrations. He asked the selectboard to permit installation; a motion to support the plan was seconded and approved. The speaker told the board he would seek reimbursement from heritage funds at the next meeting.

Vassic announced the Heritage Commission’s first program: a Memorial Day event on Saturday, May 23, focused on the 77 veterans interred across 33 local graveyards and to be held at the townhouse. The board did not attach a condition to the approved decorations and left funding and reimbursement paperwork to staff follow-up.
