At its April 21 meeting the Eden Prairie City Council approved its consent calendar (items A–M), which included the annual resolution preserving the state's statutory monetary limits on municipal tort liability and routine administrative items.
Council member Mark Freiberg asked about consent item L and the monetary limit. A staff member explained the annual action is tied to the city's insurance requirements and said, "In general under the statute, the limit for a single occurrence is 1.5 million." The staff member also said the city routinely passes the resolution to comply with the insurance carrier's requirements.
The council then moved to approve items A through M. The council later moved to approve payment of claims as submitted; a roll call recorded the following votes: Council member Freiberg—Aye; Council member P.G. Narayan—Aye; Council member Kathy Nelson—Aye; Council member Lisa Toomey—Aye; Mayor Ron Case—Aye. The motion carried.
The meeting opened with instructions for 'open podium' public comment (signup required by noon the day of the meeting; comments are not recorded or televised) and included a proclamation naming April 25, 2026, Arbor Day in Eden Prairie and announcing related community events at Staring Lake Park and Flying Cloud Fields.
The council adjourned at the end of the meeting.
