At its April 7 meeting the Fridley Public Schools board approved several business items by roll call, recording unanimous 'I' votes for each motion.
Motions passed and recorded include acceptance of a gift (testing materials) from Mimi Belki; approval of the district's 2026–27 health insurance bid package (staff had recommended an 8% employee-rate increase after committee consideration of 8%, 10% and 13% scenarios); approval of the Northeast Metro 916 Intermediate School District long-term facility maintenance (LTFM) program; authorization of an agreement with Absolute Commercial Flooring for middle-school flooring work; and approval of the consent agenda as presented.
For the health-insurance recommendation, staff said the committee included teachers, union members, principals and other staff and recommended the 8% option for board approval. The consent-agenda items (routine contracts and personnel actions) were approved following the flooring contract vote.
Roll-call votes as recorded in the meeting transcript show the following board members responding 'I' during votes: Miss Anna, Miss Jones (Vice Chair Jones), Mr. Carup (board chair), Miss Shriner, Miss Stark (student board member, participating virtually) and Miss Yang. Meeting minutes indicate each motion was announced as passed following the roll calls.
The board did not vote on the policy updates (first readings) or the SOD module at this meeting; both remain on the board's agenda for future action.
