Students describe Orlando choir trip; board praises learning and leadership experiences

Two students who participated in the district choir trip spoke to the board about their experience in Orlando.

Tyler Porto and Ashley Zavala introduced themselves and summarized the groups activities, saying they visited Disney parks including Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom and took part in music workshops and rehearsals that culminated in a group performance piece. "We did different workshops and we got to work on...a song...we made actually like a Beauty and the Beast like intro," one student said, describing a combined choir activity. They also noted leadership and teamwork workshops and said the trip was a positive experience despite sunburns some students received during a beach visit.

Board members thanked the chaperones (Sandra Wang and other staff noted earlier in the meeting) and praised the students for representing the district. The presentation was brief and was followed by routine administrative reports.
