The Belleville City Council voted April 20 to adopt Ordinance 9484, the city’s annual budget for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2026, and ending April 30, 2027. Alderperson Randall moved the ordinance; the measure passed on roll call with Alderperson Schneider recorded as voting no.
The budget adoption followed the Finance Committee’s earlier recommendation of several fiscal items, including budget amendments for fiscal year 2026 and a packet of procurement motions the committee said were within the recommended budget framework. Finance Director Jamie Maichin presented the recommended amendments before the council put the ordinance to a vote.
Council members also approved claims and disbursements totaling $1,525,708.57 and payroll of $1,052,844.20; the Treasurer’s report and statement of cash and investments for March 2026 were accepted. Motor fuel claims of $100,910.92 were approved later in the meeting.
The council’s formal adoption of the budget clears the city to begin the fiscal year operations outlined by the ordinance. No public hearing was recorded during this session, and the council subsequently moved into an executive session on pending or probable litigation.
