The Pasco County Board of County Commissioners used its April 21 meeting to adopt several ceremonial resolutions and present community awards.
The board approved Resolution 26-191 honoring Pasco County Cooperative Extension volunteers, citing combined volunteer contributions (17,567 hours in 2025) and an estimated donated-service value. Whitney Elmore, Cooperative Extension Director, and volunteers accepted recognition and promoted an October 3 gardening festival at Wesley Chapel District Park.
Resolution 26-192 declared May 2026 National Military Appreciation Month; Dave Gerson, Veteran Services manager, and several active-duty and veteran county employees were recognized. Resolution 26-193 presented Innovation and Creative Contribution awards to Lisa Campos (Investigation Station) and Center Stage Youth Theater. The board also approved Resolution 26-197 honoring Eileen Mary Tiano for military and law-enforcement service and Resolution 26-194 declaring May Building Safety Month; JP Murphy, Director of Building Construction Services, noted the department’s IAS accreditation and planned outreach events. Finally, Resolution 26-195 proclaimed April 19–25, 2026 National Library Week; Library Advisory Board chair Elaine Basinger and Library Director Sean McGarvey presented usage metrics (more than 750,000 in-person visits and 440,000 digital visits in 2025) and described programming expansion.
All listed resolutions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote during the meeting.
