The Select Board approved two joint-pole applications on April 21 following brief public hearings with a National Grid representative.
Martinez, who identified himself as a designer with National Grid, explained the Green Road request would place three poles in the public right-of-way to power a new house at Lot 35 (31 and 35 are two lots treated as one). Residents sought clarifications about the exact pole locations and whether this application related to a previous pole work discussed months earlier; Martinez said the new poles are further down the road and distinct from the prior work. After questions and no formal objections, the board moved and approved the Green Road pole installation.
The board then considered a pole at 147 Ward Street that National Grid said was needed to power an accessory dwelling unit in the backyard. Board members asked why a new pole was required; the utility representative explained the nearest poles were too far to serve the ADU. One member abstained on the Ward Street motion; the board otherwise approved the installation.
The representative agreed to sign paperwork after the meeting and thanked the board and residents for their time.
