At its May 11 meeting the Huntington Union Free School District Board of Education approved multiple personnel schedules and announced several personnel appointments and donations.
The board approved CSE/CPSE submissions and personnel items across multiple schedules. The board also approved the appointment of Jennifer Mercado to serve as principal of Jack Abrams Intermediate School beginning July 1. In addition, the board approved several probationary teacher appointments, including Isabella Algieri (elementary, Woodhull Intermediate School), Julie Cook (music teacher, Flower Hill/Washington), Denise Delgaudio (special education, Huntington High School) and Mackenzie Madison (special education, Woodhull), among others.
The board accepted donations: Jack Abrams Magnet School PTA ($2,495) to cover the cost of an assembly through Western Suffolk BOCES; Colin Limbach ($10,000) to establish the Wilfred and Laura Limbach scholarship; Ted and Tim Laughlin ($250) to the Donald A. Laughlin Founders Scholarship Fund; Washington Primary School PTA ($2,615) to offset field trip costs; and an in‑kind donation of a 6x12 welcome mat from the Woodhull PTA valued at $990.
Motions to approve personnel and business items were made and carried during the meeting; routine approvals included minutes, treasurer’s report and certified warrants.
