The Indianola Community School District board voted 7–0 to approve Edge Construction of Des Moines as the construction manager at risk for the district’s phase 2 construction work.
Staff summarized the procurement: the district issued a qualifications request that yielded eight qualified firms; five later submitted proposals and two finalists — Myron Construction of Iowa City and Edge Construction of Des Moines — were interviewed. Based on scoring from both the RFQ and RFP phases, staff recommended Edge Construction as the top-ranked firm.
“We have a budget number, but it might come in less,” a staff member said, noting that Edge will now begin work to develop a maximum guaranteed price for the project that will return to the board for final approval. The staff member also praised Edge’s past performance on district work, saying the firm “has promised and delivered many, many things,” and that staff had been “very thrilled to continue that relationship into phase 2.”
Board members moved and approved the selection. The approval authorizes staff to proceed with contract negotiations and to develop the guaranteed maximum price (GMP), which will be brought back to the board for acceptance before construction proceeds beyond pre-construction services.
The motion passed without public comment and with a roll-call tally of 7–0.
